ZERO LINE DEFINITION SOME EXAMPLES OF ZERO LINE

• Zero Line defnes the path of natural descent from one
point on a slope to another
• On perfectly tilted table greens these lines are straight

• There is a Zero line through all cups and along all slopes
of the green
• The Zero line is not always straight through the cup
except on tilted table surfaces

• Zero lines defne left and right breaking putts for all holes
made in the green, these zero lines create predictable
behavior on multiple break putts.

ZERO LINE DEFINES AIM POINT TECHNIQUE

• Zero line defnes amount of break based on the slope Real Greens
and stimp of the green. Curve Downhill Double-break Area

• The aim point is based on speed no more than 1 foot
past the hole.

• Most players under read the break by HALF.
• Under reading the break promotes higher delivery
speeds, path changes, and face rotation.

• Green reading is a learned skill, not a born talent.

AIMPOINT GREEN-READING SYSTEM

• Know the stimp reading for the day, 8 or 10 usually work best.

• Read the green frst, not the putt. Decide if the hole is on a
planar, saddle, or crowned area of the green.
• Determine the slope for the hole location, if unknown, assume
2% for planar, 0.5% for saddles or crowns.

• Find the Zero Line closest to your ball by looking at the hole
and walking to fnd the infection point.
• For Planar Surfaces Only
– Decide your angle or time on the clock face.
– Determine the length of your putt.
– Consult your AimChart for the expected break amount.

• Aim your ball or your putter to aim point.
• Trust your read and commit!
